Dani Campbell Responds to Tila’s Claims

It may have been a few weeks ago since Tila Tequila revealed via Twitter that she was a lesbian and that MTV made her choose Bobby over out lesbian Dani Campbell (who she claims to have been in love with), but we still wanted to hear what Dani had to say about it all. Here are her comments on Tila’s recent internet admissions.

CG:  What was your reaction when you learned that Tila had come out as a lesbian on Twitter?

Dani: Let me try and paint the picture… It was about 9am and it was the first of many scheduled interviews planned for me aboard a Sweet cruise when I first learned of the news. I had been partying for 5 days at sea with about 1,500 women and thought I might have heard the interviewer wrong when she asked me what I thought about Tila’s comments on Twitter. You see, I had no clue what was going on in the real world while at sea, so I was a little thrown back, needless to say. I honestly never expected this sort of thing, but if it’s true, then plus one for the lesbos!

CG:  How did it make you feel when you heard that she was saying that she had been in love with you?

Dani: I believe that people can sometimes misinterpret the meaning of “in love.” When I’m “in love,” nothing can stop me from pursuing that feeling. Nothing. Or maybe I misinterpret “in love”… Shit, I can’t seem to get it right either… If she was really in love, my only question is why didn’t she try and contact me after her contract with MTV was over?! I mean, she doesn’t owe me anything, but if she was truly “in love,” than wouldn’t she want to at least say hi? Again, maybe it’s just me. I’m a sap like that. I always want to make sure everyone is ok. Plus, I felt like Tila and I really did bond on the show. It didn’t seem fake or difficult at all. Again…maybe it’s just me.

CG: Having spent time with her, do you believe that she is really a lesbian and not “bisexual” as she had always claimed to be?

Dani: That’s a tough one. You see, we like to categorize people, and that makes them feel as if they have to pick a label to be identified. Like there are teams and one makes you mo-betta than the other. What a crock! Being a full-blown lesbian like myself, I know it’s not a choice. I mean, why would someone choose to have more struggles/battles in life- for example a small thing like NOT HAVING EQUAL RIGHTS (DAMMIT!) – just to lie about being a lesbian? Maybe she really is and it just took her longer to be comfortable with it. Look how many showbiz people are STILL in the closet. They’re scared of who knows what. I’m glad she came out. As I said before, plus one for team lesbos!

CG: If Tila reached out to you again and wanted to have a relationship of some kind, what would your response be?

Dani: “Let’s go have a drink bitch. (Or just me, cause she doesn’t drink)… You’ve got some explaining to do!”

CG: What do you think of her other recent web behavior (the online stripping, manic postings, suicide discussions, etc.)? Do you think she is okay or are you worried for her?

Dani: To be honest, I don’t keep up with the Twitter thing too much. (I really need to get better with that stuff.) I do know that being in the spotlight can be stressful, so maybe she’s just trying to reach out? It’s funny how we can adore a celebrity one day, but totally turn our backs on them the next when they show themselves as just being as human as we are. Whatever the case may be, I hope she is happy today.
