Fresh Ten Lesbian Events

Throughout the year, in locations all over the world, the lesbian community is partying. Whether it’s celebrating at the beach, in the desert, or at Disneyworld, girls who like girls also seem to like getting together, showing their pride, and having a blast. From next month’s world famous The Dinah to multiple weekends for the ladies in Provincetown, these action and fun-packed events are all fabulous and all make our list of the Fresh Ten Lesbian Events.

10. Girls in Wonderland. Lesbians do Disney World and a portion of the proceeds benefit the National Center for Lesbian Rights and the fight for GLBT equality.

9. Les Week. “Friendly Versilia” is a project that began in 1998 with the aim of giving visibility to the large and still hidden GLBT community in Torre del Lago,  in Tuscany, Italy. Les-Week is their lesbian week of celebration that features various events,  entertainment, shows, and culture and plans to finish with the “Miss Gaya’s Election,” the first contest that gives a prize to the coolest and proudest lesbian girl in Italy.

8. Single Women’s Weekend. Chances are, in Provincetown, MA you can pretty much always count on meeting your new potential girlfriend. During Single Women’s Weekend, however, they pretty much guarantee it.

7. WomenFest. Snorkeling, pool parties, movies, sailing, art, poetry, live music, and lots and lots of women? This event would be awesome even if it wasn’t in the amazing location that is Key West, Florida.

6. Women’s White Party. Last year, White Party, the internationally renowned party-packed week of AIDs fundraisers in sunny Miami, shined in the spotlight and celebrated its 24th anniversary. It was a pretty awesome way to spend Thanksgiving. This year, women from all over the world are expected to descend on South Beach for the brand new parties and cultural events that have made the week one of the year’s best.

5. Girlfest. It is referenced as the biggest lesbian event weekend in the southern hemisphere. It takes place on the Sunshine Coast in Australia. Need we say more?

4. Provincetown Women’s Week. Just when you think the summer is really over and the cold air is on it’s way, the Women Inkeepers of Provincetown give you a terrific reason to head back to the beach for at least one more fantastic week. There are amazing musical performances, hilarious comedy shows, and enough events to fill your entire day.

3. Michigan Womyn’s Music Festival. Forty performances, a film festival, an artisan/craft show and a full roster of workshops, parties, and dances are all slated for one glorious week in August on 650 lush green acres in Michigan. Did we mention 40 perfomances?!

2. Aqua Girl. At Aqua Girl there is something for everyone – from dance parties, to comedy shows, to live music, to pool parties, to dive-in movies, to celebrity meet and greets and so much more. And it doesn’t hurt that it is also the largest charity women’s week in the country, with 100% of the proceeds from Aqua Girl weekend benefiting the Aqua Foundation for Women, a not-for-profit-foundation whose primary mission is to promote the equality, strength, health, and visibility of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender women.

1. Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend. It began with a golf tournament but it is now considered the biggest and best lesbian party event of the year. Women from absolutely all over the world travel to Palm Springs for pool parties, concerts,  celebrity sightings, and more – all brought to us by Mariah Hanson, Founder of Club Skirts and the modern day Dinah Shore Weekend.The 2009 Dinah will continue Club Skirts ground breaking trend of a high profile, entertainment packed, and star-filled Dinah.
