The Sweet Caribbean Cruise

We’ve talked a lot about Sweet here on Cherry Grrl, and for good reason. Sweet is the lesbian travel company that merges the best of lesbian entertainment with social consciousness and environmental awareness and, since launching in January 2008 and announcing its inaugural Caribbean Cruise in April, has become the producer of one of the most highly anticipated lesbian events of the year. Now, the day has finally arrived, the Sweet Caribbean Cruise has set sail, and Cherry Grrl is on board to bring you all the exciting details!
Thousands of lesbians are now at sea onboard the Norwegian Spirit, which departed from New Orleans yesterday and returns on 11/15. What makes this cruise stand out from the others, and allows vacationers the opportunity for a “guilt free” cruising experience, are the community service opportunities for guests onboard – in addition to the fact that the journey will be carbon neutral. With eight community service opportunities to choose from during the cruise – including a beach cleanup, a deep-sea reef restoration, a children’s library project, set up of a school’s computer lab, a pediatric ward cheer-up, dune restoration, wetlands restoration and park re-beautification – there’s something for everyone.
But Sweet hasn’t forgotten about the partiers – the cruise also features the most hilarious lesbian comedians on the circuit, cutting edge singer-songwriters, sizzling lesbian DJs, and the hottest lesbian celebrities.
Check back with Cherry Grrl next week for a complete wrap up of the cruise, including photos, highlights, and more.
